Some Love Stories Are Meant to Be

What started as a childhood friendship blossomed into a love that was destined — one that surprised everyone but ultimately became the only reality anyone could envision.

Mike met Vicky’s older brother, Gus, when they were just ten years old. They became instant best friends, and soon, the Figueras and Arencibia families formed a close bond, celebrating birthdays and significant milestones together. Mike was always part of the family, but for years, he and Vicky remained in the same circle, connected by an invisible thread.

Fast forward to 2020. When Vicky’s senior prom was canceled due to the pandemic, a potentially disappointing night transformed into something unforgettable. In true heroic fashion, Mike arrived at her door in a tuxedo, bouquet in hand. With the support of their families, they created a home prom, complete with dancing, Shake Shack, and a night that subtly changed everything. (See pic below 😉).

By the end of that summer, Mike headed off to veterinary school while Vicky kept her secret crush to herself. But love has a perfect sense of timing. A year later, their connection had only strengthened. They took a leap of faith together and never looked back. The next three years were filled with long-distance challenges: weekends that always felt too short, late-night FaceTimes, tearful farewells, and a love that deepened over time. Throughout it all, they became each other’s safe haven, biggest cheerleader, and dearest friend.

Now, after years of growing individually and together, they can’t wait to celebrate with the family and friends who have been part of their journey from the start. They are finally ready to say “I do” in a city as vibrant, romantic, and alive as their love—Cartagena. The perfect backdrop for a love story that was always meant to be.
